What's an unconference?

Unconferences are loosely structured conferences emphasizing informal conversations and idea-sharing between attendees.

Our Tacoma Meetup is structured in part as an unconference to allow people to pitch sessions, teach skills they're interested in or request a session on something they'd like to learn.

We will have two session blocks in the evening reserved for unconference presentations, voted on by our attendees. Sessions can be pitched Saturday morning, and the schedule will be finalized by lunch.

Topics can be anything you think others would be interested in: the basics of Microsoft Access for data analysis, Orientalism in the media, how to do card tricks or a conversation about pay disparities.

Not sure how to pitch a topic? Intimidated? Read our how to pitch guide here, or come to the Friday evening mixer for a pep talk from one of our organizers.
